“The basis of the productive transformation is shaped by the powerful layout of Ruud Visser and Fumi Hoshino,” discussed the jury of the Dutch Watertowerprize. “Huge flooring-to-flooring windows searching out more than the river De Lek and the Dutch polder landscape contribute to the good quality of the areas within and suit completely with the robust visual appearance of the water tower. The motto of the architects for the duration of the design and style method was: ‘Do not change a h2o tower into a residence, yet live in a drinking water tower’ and just this was the toughness of this transformation!”

As a result, the exterior of the drinking water tower was mainly preserved with the first diamond-fashioned windows intact. New floor-to-ceiling home windows were thoughtfully inserted so as not to detract from the tower’s hexagonal geometry and are screened from the outside the house by vertical picket lattices.
